Contracted work with talent agency? Scam or Legit?

Anyone have experience working for a talent agency? I have been contacted by a talent agency to photograph their clients for portfolio building. I have done some basic research and found some red flags about talent agencies scamming people out of way over priced portfolio's and the list goes on.

Has anyone had a positive experience with a talent agency? I'm just considered that someone suing them and I get named as the photographer. Now my reputation goes into the toilet.

Your opinion would be appreciated. Thank you

This will basically answer your question. If they are being sued by clients, then most likely you will be suing them for your pay, at the very least. Or worse yet you would become a co-defendant and have to pay out money you never received. There is a reason they are looking for a photog and it is most likely they have ripped off others who fell for their scam.

Nope Never worked for a talent agency. However I have recently came across an ad on craigslist, where a "company" guess you could call it an talent agency is advertising for models to sign up. The models have to pay a fee. Well I google, find the site, and according to the site, the models have to pay a package (just like if they were getting portraits taken), after they pay for the packages, they get their photos taken (of course they do not own the photos) and this "company" says they will submit the photos to their "vendors" to see if they want the photos. This company will then take 30% and the model gets 70% of the amount the vendors pay.

I looked into this and I truly think it's a scam. I'm going to do some more digging, and cause some trouble for this guy "company". No model should ever have to pay.....especially at the prices that were on that site.
