What mode do you shoot portrait in?

Just wondering what is your preference mode to shoot portraits? I have used "P" on my dial.

I shoot in manual mode to control the depth of field and exposure

Aperture mode, I like choosing the aperture I want and most of the time the camera is correct in the exposure for the shutter speed.

I shoot Aperture mode but if you contrasty scenes that will throw off the exposure then manual mode.

Depends really. Aperture mode at least.

Manual if I have time or I'm indoors using a flash.

Probably Manual if it's a set thing.

Wow, many people shoot manual. I don't know if I could shoot manual for portraits. I feel that is too much playing around for the setting you want, while the client is waiting for their portrait to be taken.

Manual mode. Av when the lighting is predictable and won't fool the meter.

I suppose the meter can determine exposure settings almost at the speed of light, but it's accuracy isn't always so hot. It may take me a second or two, but I do a better job. My subjects don't seem to mind the wait. :) With a little practice you will find manual to be quite fast and easy.
