Overseas photography tour question

12 years 5 months ago #169569 by Freshstart
I'm not sure where I would want to go yet. But I would like to go eiher South America, Mexico, South Africa, Russia or non touristy areas on Europe. Here's the thing, my budget is looking pretty lean for cash up front. Are there any tour companies that let's say the tour isn't till June 2012, will allow me to make payments on the tour rather than paying for it up front. Just to clarify, between now and the tour I would be making payments so by the time of the tour, I'm all paid up.

Sounds like a layaway plan! So who does this?

Thank you - Katie

I doubt you'll find anyone who will take the trouble of keeping anaccoun for you. Why not research the trip you want to take, and make those payments into a savings account to put together the funds you'll need by the time you want to go. Rather than looking for a tour, try to set up your own itinerary, and prepare by researching your destinations. There's lots of information on line forpracticallyany destination you choose. Good luck!

Thank you for the response. I thought about that, but the flaw in that idea is that many of these tours fill up and have limited number of people who can go. So by putting things into savings, by the time I have the discretionary funds in there to pay complete, the trip is full. :(

That's why (or, at least, one reason why) I suggested planning your own tour. Going by yourself will ensure that you get to see the places that interest you, without being dragged around and whisked to too many "attractions", and having to sleep and eat in places that give kickbacks to your tour operator, and won't give you the experience of the country you're in. I can answer questions about Italy and Paris, and I'm sure many PT members would respond about other places. In fact, members from the countries you want to vivsit. That seems very vague, from your initial post...:)

John is making sense. What if you got a grand into a twelve hundred dollar trip, and something came up and you would have to cancel. If you did like John said, you still have your money. My suggestion would be, don't go abroad if you can't afford it....;)

Why so serious?
