David Hobby, lifelong Nikon user, on his decision not to buy a new D4.

I thought this was pretty interesting:

Of course, I don't have the $$ to buy either a D4 or a Phase One. I'm ecstatic to finally get my 35mm frame back in the digital world by buying a 4 year old camera body.

Maybe someday image sensor technology will make a radical jump away from expensive silicone and a 645 (or 8x10?) sensor won't be ridiculously expensive.

Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Interesting read,I enjoy David's blog from time to time and I was kinda surprised that he went to MF. After reading his post, I totally get it and I think that he'll really enjoy the Phaseone. Interesting that he may rent it out....I wish I was on his friends list, lol. :)

It is what it is.

I shot MF film in college- still have the camera too. Problem is getting 120 sized film developed without my own wet line. I shoot FF now and really like it, then again when I was shooting cropped I liked that too (that one is being converted to IR). I enjoyed the article. Thanks for sharing, and yes you can dream as I want to get a MF digi system when I win the lottery.

I've edited and shot with MF digital blads. They're incredible but very limited on use. I'm sure he's done his homework to know it's uses.

Makes sense to me to buy the tools that suit the job being done with them.
