Do you use a tripod at a wedding photo shoot?

As I'm going through some old photos, I've just made a self observation about my work. I always have a tripod with me, but I've never used a tripod at my wedding jobs. I'm surprised about this under my nose fun fact.

I'm just curious how many other wedding photographers don't use a tripod when shooting weddings?

95% of the time I'll hand hold only, tripods tend to attract people's feet

I do not use my tripod for weddings, limits my movements and gets in the way.

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

I used a tripod every wedding when I was shooting the portraits with ISO 160 medium format film. I don't use it much at weddings since switching to digital.

I do use it with long lenses if I'm in the balcony for the ceremony. There's almost always enough room, and with the tripod I can zoom in on the action while hand holding the wide/normal angle camera.

I also use it instead of a light stand if shooting outdoors on a windy day. It's a lot more stable. A softbox catches the wind like a kite.

I'm back and forth with the tripod. In the church, I'll use a tripod. Outdoor bride/groom shots, depending on the light given, depends if I use a tripod. Reception, no tripod.

I'm glad this question was ask. My cousin is having a wedding in a couple of months and although I am not the hire pro photographer, I will be taking pictures for practice. I was wondering if I should use my tripod or not.

I'll have one with me, but rarely use it
