Several thousand for sure...I have over 100 lenses alone (spanning several camera brands)..Most of these I bought used over the years at bargain prices (people dumped MF lenses when they went with AF & sold the MF gear at discount pricing) Trying to ascertain a value would be difficult. A certain lens that I believe I paid $50 bucks for 5 years ago is selling on eBay for 3 X that now (it's considered a "cult" lens), so what value would you use?....If I use current selling prices, the toal value would likely top $25K...I have a good number of older MF "pro" lenses that in their day sold for high prices, so would I use the original selling price for the valuation, even though I didn't pay that much?...If you ask my wife this question, she would say tens of thousands & that I don't need anything else, but I would have to disagree...

I really started with the serious photography about 4 years ago. I'm definitely approaching $10k by now and looking for purchase at least one more lens and another SB-900 strobe.

WOW! I have to ask, what is your most prized lens out of those 100?

There are several I really prize, but I'd have to say ( seeing as I'm a "macro" nut) my Lester A Dine 105mm F2.8 MF macro lens from the 80's....It's considered a "cult classic" lens...Followed closely by the 50mm F1.4 Nikkor

Is your 50mm1.4 an Ai, Ai-s or AF?

It is what it is.

Insured for $20,000. I don't consider it invested. I spent the money on photo stuff to keep it away from the bartender......:silly:

Why so serious?

How would that 105mm differ from a 105mm from today?

Newer 105 macro lens have better, newer coatings, but optically are really not better than the older macro lenses, in some cases the older ones are better ,resolution wise. Price wise, the older lenses are much less expensive & a better value for your dollar...
