Projector system for live slideshow after wedding?

So I've heard about wedding photographers that project a slideshow of the wedding during the reception dinner. I'm really curious if anyone does this/has seen it done! Seems like it'd be really complicated to get it all done in such a rush and set it up, but I bet it's super impressive.

I wonder how profitable it is if one could pull it off...

Hmm... wow. Maybe this isn't as common as I thought. Or you all just want to keep your secret leg up on the rest of us wedding photographers. :P

A wedding photographer I used to assist did this and it was a total pain! I don't remember how much more he charged the clients but I remember it being a lot, and for good reason. There was the main wedding photographer, and me shooting and then we had a digital guy putting together the slideshow in whatever little spot we could find for him.

All the pre-wedding stuff was already done (child photos, engagement session, etc) and the music picked out and then as the wedding was going on and cards filled up, the photog would keep shooting and send me to deliver the memory cards to the slideshow guy.

At dinner time we'd set up the slideshow screen and have to find extension cords and whole bunch of other stressful nonsense at the time when most wedding photographers get to relax. Sometimes there would be technical difficulties, one time the photographer had forgotten the whole system and I had to drive 60 miles round trip to go pick it up for him.

Bottom line if you wanna deal with the stress, then sure, you could make a lot of extra money, impress clients, and also, it's great advertising. I personally would never do it again. It's just not worth it to me. (Esp cus I got paid the same either way).

That does sound annoying! Hmm... well thanks for the info. Things to think about. I wonder if there is an easier way...
