Real Estate photography aerial shots

I'm getting my foot in the door with some realtors locally here and had requests from a couple asking for aerial shots of homes that they were listing. Aside from racking up outrageous helicopter rental charges, would something like this work? www.amazon.com/Parrot-AR-Drone-Quadricop...eywords=ar+drone+2.0

It's suppose to be controlled from your cell phone and has a camera built into it that apparently is supposed to take photos and send to your phone. LOL I'm on the fence and not sure what to think of this thing. Thoughts?

I often thought of this type of photography myself, this is what I had in mind

The cost is higher but my childhood memories of remote control devises wasn't always dependability...

Good luck, I think there is a market for areial shots :beerbang: :beerbang:

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

Real Estate photography is intriguing and I've often thought that it's a niche not explored enough by the professionals. But, if it were ME and a realtor and/or homebuyer requested aerial shots, I'd let them know the added cost (helicopter charges included) or I would just suggest they take a screen shot from google maps. (I can't be the only one that has checked out my neighbors' yards to see who has swimming pools!)

For most homes, I don't think an aerial shot will really even make an impact. It's the homes with expansive land, living quarters, several buildings, tennis courts, swimming pools, stables, etc., where an aerial shot could really wow a buyer - in those cases, the homeowners and/or realtors might be more inclined to pay for aerial photography anyway!

Speaking of Google street views, it is a really great tool when looking to buy a house, quite often it reveals what the home looked like before the fix up for curb appeal was done. I also agree the arerial shots are for high end homes with large properties..

What's fun is also type in a city you have always wanted to go to Paris, London, Moscow, etc. With Google maps on street view, you can click your way threw the city streets as if you were there walking around.

Canon 7D & 1D MK III, Canon 10-22mm, 16-35mm f2.8L II, 24-70mm f2.8L, 70-200mm f2.8L IS, 300mm f2.8L IS, 200mm f2L IS, 50mm f1.4, 50mm f1.2L, 85mm f1.

The drone seems to have only a front mounted camera which doesn't get all that good reviews, you might want to see about moving it to the bottom.
