Have you ever wanted to ask the... 'question'?

It's a Friday everyone! I'm in a good mood so going to ask a 'light' question.

Have you ever asked someone what kind of camera did they use to take certain photos? OK, so the answer may be 'NO'.

I'm sure you have been asked by others perhaps? I have a few times, I shoot a lot of weddings and also donate some time a local soup kitchen. I've been asked at many different occassions, the most recent was 2 weeks ago at the soup kitchen. One of the other volunteers asked what kind of camera did I use for taking wedding photos. I gave them the details and they said they didn't want to get into all the fancy features my camera had, that they only wanted a camera that took good photos.

Canon 7D w/grip, Canon 40D, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L Canon MPE 65mm f2.8 macro; Sigma 70-300mm f2.8; Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro; Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6

I don't think so, but I've been asked questions - like if they could see my camera and then they'd say, that's really heavy! I've been asked if I was taking pictures for the local paper, or where they can get the cheapie plastic doo-dad that was given out at the game (what was I, the information booth?! I'd just send them to Will Call).

Or I've had people look at me with my camera, look up, look back at me...

Not I, but I too have been asked many times what kind of camera did I use or prefer to use.

I am fortunate to live in a community of mostly senior snapshot photographers so I am somewhat of a guru in my close circle of friends... :S :toocrazy:

I get asked all the time about my camera. Afterall I take good photos so it must be a first rate camera. :woohoo:

My rumor this month is my "new'' camera has X-ray mode where it can see precisely through exactly one layer of clothing. By the end of July I will have the capability of clearing out the pool just by walking by...

I have been asked why I use Nikon when all the big sports photogs use Canon nowadays. I have been asked about " that BIG lens " that I use (it's a 300mm f 4.0 ). Like Sharon folks come up to me at games and ask what I recommend they buy to get good pictures. I've gotten used to the questions and give truthful if tongue in cheek answers and sometimes people are so bold as to ask how to get good pictures at the game. ( what settings do I use etc.) So I wrote a how to get good images article for www.prohockeynews.com this month.

Drag a 300, 400, 500 or 600mm lens out and hear what kind of questions that you get .... especially when they are all "big white lenses" The most common question / statement is .... "I'll bet you get some great pictures with that camera." To which I truthfully reply .... "I can produce some real crap with it too!"

I have had comments about being able to get good photos because I have a good camera. I asked one woman if she could cook better meals with expensive pots and pans. She got the message she just said, "I guess it's not the camera".

Yes only yesterday what camera nd lens I had used after I posted a picture on facebook, the person that asked though i know is a damned good photographer that collects and uses vintage cameras Leica, Rolliflex etc, so i suppose it was a valid question

LOL I've been asked that a few times. It cracks me up when they assume the size of the camera is what makes a good photo.
