Model won't sign model release form. Now what?

I wanted to update my portfolio and try out some new poses so I hired a model from Craigslist yesterday. She gets to the location where we agreed to meet for the shoot and she doesn't want to sign the model release form. She said she never has to sign anything with other photographers.

So it took my 30 minutes to get to the photo shoot location, she claims it took her 35 minutes. I don't feel comfortable photographing her without her signing this. When I suggest we just part separate ways, she wants to get paid for 1 hour of time and fuel cost. Really?

I reminded her of our agreement on rate from the night before, which didn't include fuel cost. When I refused to pay her as I don't think it would be fair, considering the night before I did tell her that I would need her to sign my model release form. Which is a cookie cutter release form, nothing added! Any way she started yelling saying I'm a difficult photographer and other photographers are much more professional.

OK... honestly everyone. Who requires a model release form from all your work?

I always require a model release. As long as I specified that payment was upon the assumption that she was going to sign the release I definitely wouldn't have given her any money or photographed her.

I agree with you not paying her, especially since she knew she would have to sign a form. Let her pound sand for being so arrogant, and ignorant. There was one model that had an ad looking for a photog who would shoot her for credit as if she was some ultra famous being. She was disparaging previous shooters as doing atrocious work that was not worthy of her, hence her ad seeking a shooter worthy of her greatness. Some peoples moms did not slap them around enough when they were young. And Model Mayhem can be worse for Prima Donna types. There are too many out there who think they are top shelf when they are blue light specials.

She is an idiot or some sort of con-woman. Any professional that knows what they are doing is going to require a model release.

Use it as a learning experience, and from now on make sure everything is clearly stated and in writing before you schedule the shoot.

Just to show, there are and will always be :toocrazy: people you need to deal with out there. Although this has never happened to me, I would send email with all your payment terms and check list which will include the model release form.

:agree: Henry said what I was thinking. Look at this as learning experience and just send everything in writing before meeting anyone like this.

You could also say that you need them to bring the email to your meeting for whatever reason. Then when they try to pull that crap you have it, IN THEIR HANDS to show they are the idiot! :woohoo:

I think this girl has some screws loose up stairs! When I got home yesterday, there was a message from her asking what happened to our photo shoot and that she hopes we can work again that it was fun.

What a :toocrazy:
