How much have you spent on photography gear?

So perhaps being new to photography I'm just getting broken in properly, but seriously some of this stuff adds up very quickly when you are just getting started! :pinch: I know it's all worth it. But really, I would like to know how much do other photographers have invested into their photography gear?

Currently I have no idea, I do not really ever think about it, nor have I ever. Over all the years I have been shooting probably in the $100K+ range easily. Now with my digital gear in the tens of thousands since I have been doing it. Not all that much to tell the truth. I do not look at it so much as spending as investing, especially when it comes to glass.

A lot less than I used to spend in my bachelor days going to bars and casinos. Except now I have a little something to show for it.

I'm still just getting started, but I'd say that I'm easily into the $4,000 range.

It is what it is.

I am sitting around $35,000-$40,000 mark myself.

Too much, and at the same time not quite enough. I have about sixteen grand in digital cameras and lenses. I'm not going to add up the accessories, probably don't even want to know.....

Why so serious?

More than I care to admit. If I had to guess about $20,000? When you count bodies, lenses, computers, programs, accessories it adds up fast and yet I can safely say I could spend another $20,000 and still want more. I buy what I need as I need it.

I just had to inventory everything for my insurance company and it was a bit over 21K. Only been shooting 18 months so it added up quick.

I've learned long ago not to keep track. It's easier to plead the 5th when it comes up with the wife.

Be thankful you don't shoot with medium format cameras!

Yeah that is where a good amount of my money went in the film days. That and film, chemicals, paper, and other associated DR stuff, as well as the equipment. Digital is so much cheaper and easier. I doubt I will ever shoot film again.
