Why is the iPad so big in photography?

I'm wondering if I should get one, but first I am doing all my research.

I don't know. Why can't photographers continue to use a laptop instead of spending money on an iPad?

I didn't think it was all that big for photographers, you can't upload photos directly to it?

Yes you can. In raw and Jpeg.

They're wonderful to display your portfolio on, because IPS LCD's have an amazing wide viewing angle.

Scotty - your post reminds me that I need to check from time to time the new toys for the iPad. I'm going to order that little gadget myself. What else has recently come out for iPad's that you know is a winner?

New apps?

Thank you for making PhotographyTalk.com your photography community of choice.

The most important app I use, relates to this site in a way is...

Perfect Browser-Alternate browser to Safari. It has a quick hyper-scroller on the right so you can scroll up and down in less than a second, instead of keep flicking down.

Atomic browser is also really good.

Game apps-
Angry birds of course
Cut the rope
Fruit ninja
Plants vs zombies
Flight controld HD-one of my favorites
Dead Space-My absolute favorite.

I use the Twitter app a lot, as well with the friendly for facebook app.

Zinio for my magazine subscriptions..I have Outdoor photographers, a full year subscription on it.
Comic Zeal (yes i'm a nerd, but stealthy told me about this app) for my comic book collection.

Goodreader for pdf's.

Alex I'd recommend LogMeIn for remote control over your desktop or laptops. If i'm away from home and I wanna set up downloads, or anything I can control my mac pro from my ipad.

There's a lot of photo editing programs for ipad, but they're honestly all junk.

Also.....If you wanna convert AVI files directly to itunes to sync up your own movies, try out Video Monkey.

I'll take a gander at the ipad and look at else I have on there.
