What's the best and most efficient photo back up software on the market today?

Hm. Not sure that "photos" have anything to do with it. The question is, how do you want to back up your data?

You can use disk imaging software to clone a complete disk. Handy if you lose a drive and want to quickly restore it. Kinda cumbersome for regular backups, however.

I personally prefer incremental backups. I'd rather have only the files that have changed since the last backup be candidates; and I want to save 2 copies of those files so I can regress should I need to. I'm currently using Memeo to accomplish that, because I've been unable to find any other program that meets my needs (so far).

How do you define efficient? A program that copies a file out to a server, then reads it back to compare it with the original to ensure it was saved correctly? Or one that just slams files to storage and trusts that it got there OK? Do you want to use USB/ eSATA drives that you plug in when you need them, or have a NAS device that is always online?

Yeah, lots of questions :-) No easy answers.

Aomei seems to have added a freebie backup program; I'm going to look into that. Their partition mgmt freebie is excellent (for Windows XP 32-bit).

:agree: :goodpost:
Are you using a secondary backup drive? Software is fine but if you are backing up your data on the same machine it is useless. I use removable drives for that, and then they are stored in a fireproof safe rated for electronic media.

I also use removable drive. Once a week I hook it up and software called Goodsync scans and syncs any changes made to my Lightroom folder. I then put the drive in a fire box. I also save all my photos to my Zenfolio account.

I'd just use a hard drive to save everything
