Ice sculpture photography tips

Anyone photograph ice sculptures before? I've been asked to photograph some at a fund raiser and I'm looking for some tips on do's and don'ts if you have. Thanks!

Well, not much info in the question. Day or night?.Hopefully the latter. Can you use a tripod? If so, do. Lighting? If needed, get it off camera. Watch the backgrounds. Get low if possible. Do a lot of chimping, and adjust exposure as needed. Keep the spare batteries in a warm place. dress warm so you can stay out a long time, and take a LOT of shots, and have some fun!.... ;)

Why so serious?

I just took some pictures at our local ice fest and what I found tricky was focusing because you're trying to focus on something clear/transparent. It was unseasonably warm for January so the sculptures were melting and soft which didn't give me sharp edges to focus on so I focused mostly on the base or botton edge.

Went late day to see them and get some daylight shots, and then some shots when the lights were coming on. Either way, it was low light shooting at best so the images were dark and I had to do some brightening.

Since the weather was nice it was a constant parade of people traipsing in and out of the viewfinder/viewscreen, walking in front of the camera etc. (kids especially liked standing beside the Bob the Builder one). Depends on if you're trying to get photos of just the sculptures or of the event I suppose as to how challenging this would be to photograph.
