Translucent reflectors

So I have your typical silver and gold reflectors and now looking at getting a white translucent one. I'm almost wishing I had just bought one of those 5 in 1 deals. Speaking of which, any of you using a white translucent reflector or a 5 in 1? I need something that will kill a stop or 2 of light for making shade during sunny days. This will work right?

I have a cheap multi reflector unit that I bought on eBay many years ago. The discs are about 3' across and the whole thing folds up into a small package that fits easily in my camera bag. I use it mainly for macro work - insects and plants. The transluscent disc is probably the most used part, shading subjects that would otherwise be in full sun. It works very well for that. After that I use the white reflector to fill in shadows and occasionally the silver and gold. It's one of the most useful accessories I have.

I also use mine with my lights, to soften their effect. Sort of a poorman's softbox. If you will be using this scrim to shade a person, instead of bugs, take care about the size. Bigger will be better with people.
