Panoramic photos from camera and changing aspect ratio

11 years 1 month ago #279507 by Joe Vertz
Our cameras can have their aspect crop ratio changed from camera. So if you were shooting a panoramic, would there be any benefit to having the photos already cropped to long and thin? That would mean less post processing later, assuming the camera got it right. Now that I think about it, if you change the crop ratio in the camera, would the view finder change indicating the new space?

No, there is no benefit from having a long, thin image crop for panorama construction. Use whatever the "native" image ratio is for the camera.

Not all cameras provide for different aspect ratios. Any camera with that option should show the crop applied, at least in the LCD screen on the back of the camera.

:agree: I would rather crop in post production. Your going to get so much more control

This is where doing the work in post is better. You stitch them together then crop the image.

True, to me I'd like the control of working in Photoshop and making my own adjustments vs the camera randomly cropping.
