Taking a group portrait indoors with only one flash

11 years 1 month ago #280339 by DJMarcus
I'm shooting a sweet 16 party that is being held in a hotel ball room next weekend, there are something like 31 to 49 people suppose to be attending from what I'm being told. I just got back from looking at the ball room and the lights in there are very warmish orange. What I'm trying to figure out is the parents have already indicated that they want at least one group photo of everyone. I only have one flash and I'm not sure if one flash will be enough? I really don't want to buy another flash just for this job, so how would you do this?

Appreciate the advise.

I would. Increase iso, adjust wb, and no flash.

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

Such a good idea! I'm going to head back and test out some shots and see what I get. Thanks for the tip!

Good advise, higher ISO and no flash will do the trick

Nikon Z6 | Nikon FM10 | Nikon D80 | Nikon 50mm f/1.8D | Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S VR | 35-105mm f/3.5 Macro | 80-200mm f/4.5 | SB600 | Pocket Wizard II
