Client left me, feel like crap today

10 years 11 months ago #285949 by Kristy Blake
I've had this client for a couple years and have bent over backwards for this client to keep them happy. Matter of fact I just drove a fruit basket 40 miles each way to their house two weeks ago. This was just a 'thank you' for your business gift. I just found out today that their upcoming family re-union that I was supposed to be photographing, was given to another photographer. :pinch: I know I'm not the cheapest photographer and also not the most expensive either. They have always been happy with my work and I've even gotten a referral from them. This just doesn't make sense and they aren't returning my call (they always do within minutes). I'm confused and feeling like poop today.

:(

Don't feel bad, it's their loss!

You've done you're best. Tell that to yourself as many times as it takes to feel better. Know that you may have lost this client, but you will gain another one that may be even better!

Don't assume the worse, maybe the new photographer is a relative or friend. I did a baby bump a few years ago with the understanding that I would do the new born pics, Turned out her old high school friend who is a photographer offered to do them. If they never complained or had concerns about your work than I would assume it has nothing to do with you.. They are likely embarrassed ( as they should be) to talk to you.

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

If you're going to be in this business, it would be a good idea to grow some thick skin. You will be dropped and rejected and there doesn't need to be a reason. There is NO such thing as loyalty any more, all you can do is be the best you can be and when something like this happens, move along. Get another client....good luck!..... ;)

Why so serious?

Hope your week ended on a better note. I would still treat them the same, you never know what circumstances could be on the table

It happens, sucks, but happens. Lose one client, go out there and get two more ;)

Thank you all for the support. I'm better now. A rough day is, well... a rough day. I appreciate all the messages and clarify. Clients will come and go, I just need to work on more coming in, than going out.
