What are you doing with camera in the rain

With raining wet and cold season approaching, and thinking about last year how many times I got caught in some inclement weather. I have found my self a few times out in the field and far from cover. How do modern cameras fair with a little rain? I have a Canon 5D Mark III for example.

What do you carry with you for rain protection?

I carry a couple 30 gal trash bags for stuffing the entire bag in for down pours. I also carry a few smaller, 18 gal (?) or so clear bags, rubber bands and gaffers tape for "in rain" photos. The latter bags slip over camera and lens mounted on tripod and make things very easy..... ;)

Why so serious?

Good idea, now have you ever tried any of those disposable rain sleeves offered by Op/tech?

I bought a collapsible umbrella Just for shooting off a tripod in the rain or off a tripod in sun. Seldom put a camera on one though so don't know how it works. I generally like to keep myself out of the rain anyway. The plastic garbage bags sound like a good idea to me also for getting to the tripod. I am working on using the tripod though.

I have one and never use it, the trash bags are lighter and way easier to pack. YMMV, of course..... B)

You have a 5d. You can shoot in the rain.

So you bring up a good point, yet how much rain is actually OK? I have been wondering about this myself, are we talking light rain is OK, or can these cameras hold up to heavy rain? Wouldn't the lens to camera seal be the weak link here?
