Have you dealt with "distribution royalties" before?

I placed an ad here locally offering my photography services and I had a message that was left from a model who is interested in expanding her portfolio. The message was pretty clear, but then she stated that she wants distribution royalties as well. I haven't called her back, but a little confused. She stated my rate was fair, which means she understands she is paying me to take her photos. I don't have any experience with "distribution royalties". What are these?

Well the Distribution Royalty would be that you would owe her a certain percentage of any images of her you sold. If you do not sell any images of her then it is of no consequence. Basically she is saying that she has a right to some of the income you derive from photos of her. It is almost like a Residual in the movie business, where each actor gets a part of the sales of the movies after it run in the theaters, and goes to CD sales, PPV, and other revenue streams.
Personally I would tell her to pound sand as far as the shooting goes. Or you could say fine I get such, and such amount of any sales you do. You make it where you get the major percentage of the monies, since you are technically the Copyright holder. Which to me it sounds like she is attempting to end run around your Copyrights, as I have no doubt that there is a part where she can sell the photos with no remuneration to you, or giving her a wedge to have co-ownership of your Copyright. As I said tell her to go pound sand.
Royalties are not just something that are given freely. They are heavily negotiated legal instruments, where you have lawyers, or mediators representing both parties. They are very specified detail wise. Which I doubt that hers is, unless she had some lawyer write it up for her. She want control over your images is the gist of it.

Does the model expect you are going to sell her photos? Sounds to me that her wires are mixed up. If you were hiring here, and have negotiated a lower rate from her, some models will try to get "distribution royalties" at that point.
