DSLR for my wife for Christmas gift. Need some ad

I would just take her to the store, let her have a feel of 2-3 nikon cameras, and decide what feels right and comfortable to use.
I know a couple of keen photographers who have cameras they now feel are too big, complicated and heavy so as a result they think twice before using them and stick to their older simpler models.
ps I only picked nikon so she can use your lens, otherwise no preference

I glanced through the last one, allegedly a comparison.

No mention of lenses, conveniently. Mirrorless cameras, by design, aren't going to give you the lens choices that you get with a DSLR.

We hates using a screen to view and focus. Our precious must have a viewfinder.

A modest prosumer DSLR with a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 lens, or the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8, is still less expensive, and not a whole lot bulkier than the Fuji. And a lot more flexible. I don't think vibration reduction is really required at those focal lengths. Not having it encourages good technique.

But that's just me.

Some people like to get a gift with thought and love put into it.

Most of the best mirrorless cameras have viewfinder. Usually an electronic one, but that's not a bad thing actually. I almost NEVER use the screen at the back of my X-pro1 to focus or whatever. It's only the cheaper ones that don't have a viewfinder and that's fine for people who just want to treat it like a point and shoot.

There's also a LOT of lenses out for the micro 4/3 system and fuji lenses are top notch. The fuji also has a APS-C sensor in it that is amoung the best in the world (especially with their X-tran technology.

So form factor and personal preference is the main issues separating a mirrorless to a cheap DSLR these days. Personally I do agree with you, I prefer an optical viewfinder etc. but as far as IQ is concerned it's pretty much a moot point.

Even now Nikon have the DF coming out which is full frame and (EDIT: The DF has an optical viewfinder) I believe Sony have some FF mirrorless bodies... of course they're expensive.

Mirrorless is getting to be pretty much a good alternative to DSLR cameras. It's just a matter of preference.

BTW I think the Fujii X-E2 is quite a bit less bulky than a DSLR and those lenses you said. Fuji lenses are also VERY good (I own a few).

Ah. My bad. I am apparently familiar with only the low end of the product range. I stand corrected and informed.

You're welcome. Both barrowlenses and lensrentals will rent mirrorless cameras. Not a bad idea! Some folks detest small cameras, some love them. I say it's nice we have so many choices.
