Connection between lens and camera body is bad?

10 years 5 months ago #309699 by Craig Stone
I keep getting these goofy looking errors on the display of my D7000. When I wiggle my lens around the errors go away. It seems to only be happening with the 18-200mm lens and I'm wondering what might be the issue here. My camera gear is out of warranty so I'm hoping I can fix on my own. Is there an adjustment that tightens a lens connection to the camera body it's attached too? These lens does seem to be not a snug as others I have.

Thanks in advance

Craig

Fire off an email to Nikon service and see what they say. Its common among all makes, I guarantee it. It may just be a couple screws tightened will solve the issue......

Why so serious?

Have you cleaned your contacts on both the body, and the lens? Also if I remember right the mount on that lens is plastic. I find that the lenses with the plastic mount tend to do that as they are mounted, and dismounted over time. I know everyone of them with that have the same problem, so I have the habit of just giving it a twist to be sure. But try cleaning the contacts first, that usually gets rid of the problem for the most part.
