Standard ball head vs 3 way head?

Which is more widely used by the pro's?
(Really random question - I'm looking at a ad for Manfrotto 3 way head)

Ball head is the most used because it's fairly precise and a bit smaller. I have a 3 way head and it's accurate, but a PITA to carry around. I'm gonna get a nice ball head to replace it.

I would say a ball head is more often used.

I have a 3 way and there are times when I wished I had a ball head b/c they seem quicker to me, but then times I am glad to have a 3 way--for those rare panoramics or I can see how they would be more useful for video.

For video you need a head like this:

I had always thought the ball heads were the better of the two
