Who has knowledge of a 1933 Box Brownie Special No. 2

I found one and would like to buy, but have been told to make an offer.  It's in very good condition and supposed to work.  How much would you pay for this camera?

This info from the Kodak Brownie site. Personally, I wouldn't pay much for a camera that will only sit on display, but that's me.....

INTRODUCTION DATE: Nov. 1933
PRODUCTION DATES: Nov. 1933-Feb. 1934
FILM TYPE: 120 rollfilm IMAGE SIZE:6x9cm 2¼ x 3¼ inch.
STANDARD LENSES/SHUTTERS: Kodak Doublet
The No.2 camera is a basic box camera using 120 film with a Kodak Doublet lens. As a mostly export-only model these are less common than other Brownie.
This model was probably the last 120-film Brownie box camera to be produced by Kodak in the USA.


No2 Brownie special with two world fair emblems.
One is a 1833 Chicago 1933 anniversary
emblem and the other one is an emblem of the Chicago World fair 1933.
   Unknown if this camera is sold at the Chicago     world fair 1933 with those emblems or that they      are later pasted.

On another forum I'm on, someone recently paid $25 plus shipping for a No.2 FOLDING AUTOGRAPHIC BROWNIE.

Unless they are some special series as Ernesto pointed out, then they are a $5 to $30 item. The special series are not worth much more to tell you the truth, unless they are in perfect condition. It is just a sad fact that many of the older fine cameras are not worth a lot unless they were very limited in numbers to start with.

A lot of research is needed for a price. What did the original camera come with? A leather case? A booklet? Etc. If it is the full package, the price can double a few times.

Dennis is right on the money, about 20 bucks would do it, if that much - depends on the condition. Unless it's a special model, the basic box Brownies were common and aren't all that valuable. I have one in red leatherette and one with green metal trim, those could go for somewhat more. I agree with Hassner, a case etc. could add value. One I have that has more value than the basic box is the last model which was made midcentury in Gr. Britain, in tan leatherette with actual aperture and shutter speed settings.

The Beau Brownies that were made in the '30's in different colors with a modern geometric design on the front (designed by Walter Teague) are pretty collectible and have a good bit more value. The World's Fair ones I haven't seen, those would probably be pretty valuable.

Most Brownies I think take 120 film so if one is in working condition it would be usable; I've used mine. Some of the larger box Brownies take 116 film which isn't made any more but I've seen that people do adaptations so a camera will take 120 size spools. Early box cameras used various film sizes that are long out of existence, film didn't seem to be in standard sizes in the early days of roll film box cameras.
