Your post formatting makes it difficult to read.  But I would go with the 75-300mm, just because I want that extra distance

I would definitely select the 55-250mm IS lens.  I have had mine for many years and I love it.  The IS (image stabilization function) is great for shooting people at functions (parties, workshops, etc.) as well as landscape close-ups (from a tripod).  Also, Fred Miranda at the site below rates this lens (the non-STM) version at an 8.9, which is excellent for a lens at this price.

The75-300 lens is rated at 5.6 (for the non-IS version) and 6.5 for the IS version.  I make it a point to never buy any lens unless Fred rates it at least as an 8.0.  I bought my original Canon 55-250mm lens back when it costs $240!  Several years later, after losing all of my lenses, it was the first "new" lens I bought.  This time the price was $275.  I guess you can tell that I love this lens.

By the way, one additional note.  Your camera is an APS-C camera meaning that the 55-250mm lens is really a 80-400mm lens on your camera.  Also, in the future years, think about getting a super-wide zoom (either the Canon 10-22, the Tamron 10-24 or the Sigma or Tokina comparable one).

I don't know.... it's sort of like reading a poem.  I rather enjoyed the OP. :-)
