Question about logo in coffee table book for client

10 years 2 months ago #350045 by Sandy Smith Photos
I putting together a 47 page coffee table book for my client.  These are all the photos that I took of their family reunion during 2013 Christmas.  She wants printing of photos only on one side.  In books like this, where would you have your logo printed?  Last page or on front page in book?  I have always had on last page, but a friend of mine says I should have in front of the book, that it's better marketing.  I would think clients wouldn't be happy about logo in the front.  Am I right or wrong?

I would think a non-invasive mark on the title page (not the cover), "Photography by Sandy Smith Photos" or what-not, would be acceptable. But small and tasteful. Perhaps even on the inside front cover? Otherwise, at the end.

If someone looks at the book and likes what they see, they'll ask how it came about, I would think. So it is likely not a critical issue.

Have you discussed with the client?

I'd put on the back page, otherwise might send the wrong message.

I wouldn't want to see a companies logo right when I open up a photo book that I have paid for.  In the back is OK.

I have done so many coffee table books I have lost count and I have never put my logo on any, I would say that I get at least 75% referrals from clients that have shown their family and friends their book! people always ask who has done the photography and if they need a photographer and they like what they see! you have got yourself another job, a photo book is for the client to cherish not a marketing tool for yourself.
