Why can't I find a good camera level

10 years 1 month ago #359273 by Martha
I have been photographing real estate which includes interiors and I was using a hot shoe bubble level and I have tried two of these and they seem a bit off most of the time.  Can someone suggest one that is considered the best of the best and most importantly has a good snug fit in the hot shoe.

Thank you

From what I have seen of those levels most are not worth the plastic they are made from. Aren't you using a tripod to shoot you real estate shots? With your D300 at least you should set the View Finder to grid, this will allow you to use the lines in the grid to keep your camera level with the floor, corner, or entry way. If you do have a tripod without a level, then I suggest you get one with them on it.

If your tripod bubble level is as bad as mine your better off getting a spirit level for your camera.

I use a 3 axis spirit level that fits into the flash hot shoe and works great.

Even with the level you will find slight non verticals which are easily fixed in PS lens correction.

Why not use the level that is mounted on your tripod?

Really? It's like you didn't even read the original post or any of the replies.
