Best way to photograph golf swings

I've been asked to photograph a golf instructors clients.  He has indicated that I will need something around 200 fps.  That is way beyond what my D300 can achieve.  Can this be accomplished with using a flash even in sunlight?

200 frames per second? I think not. Maybe a video capable camera?

Why so serious?

Ever seen a photo of a flying bird with it's wings stopped? Wide open aperture, relatively high ISO to get the fastest shutter speed you can get. Then shoot constant servo. You'll never stop the swing in the right places with single servo.

There are a couple of ways without video. One is using an ND filter to slow your shutter speed down enough to turn the swing into a blur. The other way will only work indoors, and that is with a strobe light, and a slower shutter speed as well. The strobe light will stop the swing at various points of he swing. It will take trying it a couple of times to get the correct sync speed of the light, and the shutter correct. But it can be done.

Hey, how about buying your buddy a bucket of balls and let him hit them while you try different camera settings to see which stop action or show a blur, show them to the golf instructor and go from there.

How many fps do these cameras record video?  Isn't that still around 25 fps?
