Do you charge...

For any travel expenses to jobs?  Gas and vehicle maintenance isn't cheap these days.  So if you are traveling XX number of miles to client, at what point do you start charging for travel expense to and from location?

How much are you charging too?

Probably the easiest wat to do it is to chg the max deduction the IRS will allow which I think is over .50 per mi. You could cut that quite a bit and still come out ahead. The figure's the use are pretty high. I suspect that right now if your vehicle is reasonably good on gas it actually cost something around .40-.45 per mi to run your car. That would take into account, maintenance, tires, fuel, insurance ect. It would be best to know how many miles you drove the year before as cost is figured on miles traveled. Get's pretty involved so I would just go and charge the standard deduction or even down around .40 per mi.

The tax deduction is irrelevant, and should be taken advantage of for any business.

Local mileage is not an issue; anything over 30 miles incurs a mileage charge. Give or take.

Here in Hawaii, there isn't to much mileage going anywhere, so this is irrevelant to my situation.  However will say, if you are driving over 25 miles one way, I would charge something per mile.

Depending on what you drive and gas cost, I would charge somewhere around .45 and .60 cents per mile
