Oh this is a good one.  Yeah $25 bucks seems a lot more forgiving then $500.  But the question is if the light quality is the same?  Anyone build one of these yet?

No he already stated that there was a drop in lumen output with the ghetto setup. I imagine if you found a different diffusion material for the tube, i.e less dense it would translate into more light output. Or get on of the really high lumen flash lights that are adjustable and be near the same as the Ice Light. Also the light temps are different, but I am willing to bet you can get replacement bulbs at various light temperatures. I know this is true for work lamps and such.
