Do your emotions bleed into your photos?

I personally find that a lot of my photography has to do with the mood I am in. If I'm in a bad mood, my photos tend to turn towards a more darker, deeper photo, however when I am joyful or happy, my photos tend to be lighter, brighter and more on the brighter and happier side of things. Some of my photos are even purely trying to put my mood onto paper, because a photo can describe how I feel more efficiently than I could explain it.

Does this happen to you, and do your emotions help you find inspiration in taking photos?

What a good topic.  I had to think about this and I'm going to say my photos don't change with the mood I'm in.  Rather how I take the photos.  But I will say subject mater will change depending on my mood.  When I'm in bad mood, I like to get out and shoot landscapes.

Not really, when I'm in a bad mood, I actually don't feel like taking photos because I usually don't feel creative then.

Very nice to meet you!

I'd say so.

Not so much anymore, but photography used to be a stress reliever (to some degree) for me.
That last photo is sort of bittersweet; it's a sad photo masquerading as a happy one because I took it the day we put our dog down.

I would agree with you Leilanee that to a degree photography is a stress reliever. I'm at that point now where I will go out into nature with my camera alone and just take pictures to escape from the world for a while. I think that is partially why my emotions bleed into my photos.

Yes, when I'm sad or angry I have a tough time getting those creative juices flowing.  So I would definately say my emotions will bleed into my photography.

 :agree:
That pretty much goes for me as well. Now I do carry my camera with me, but there really has to be something that is truly spectacular to trip the shutter. And if that happens my bad mood generally goes away.

When I was younger I did not take any photos for myself when I did not feel top of the world. Only as a job.
Now that I'm older I do some of my more creative work when I'm in a bad mood.
I look at life differently then and ponder the emotions and motivations of those around me which gives me new perspectives. The satisfaction from a good session gets me right out of the bad mood.

No way.

When you do event photography, the last thing you want is your emotions showing in the photos. Hahahhaah

When I'm hired to do a job, my emotions are replaced with reward of $$.  So paid gigs my answer is no.  Now if I'm just out shooting on my own, if I'm having a great day vs bad, I would say there would be a difference.  Just not sure how noticeable that would be.
