This would have look better if you zoomed in as close as you can when editing. I tried to zoom in a little bit and it looks good and sharp. You can do it in PP then crop.

Great job, looks like the sharpest focus was on the back side, next time focus on the head or consider focus stacking.  With this being your first macro... I'd say you are off to a great start.  What lens did you use for this shot?

Nikon Z6 | Nikon FM10 | Nikon D80 | Nikon 50mm f/1.8D | Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S VR | 35-105mm f/3.5 Macro | 80-200mm f/4.5 | SB600 | Pocket Wizard II

Awesome! Love the third image. Less distraction at the top of the image. The metallic color of the fly is oddly beautiful. Also, what is that star shaped object near the tip of the leaf? That may make an interesting macro shot. Great job. Keep it up!!

Yes...butterfly girl...kinda like that...though this last one is getting good, I know you can do better. I am not criticizing, OK? but next time when you find something similar, focus on the eye nearest your sight, and go much closer, just like when doing portrait shots but concentrating just on the head. This shot you have here is what we jokingly called a "butt shot". :P  It takes practice, like drills when you are first learning a different style. If you can and want to concentrate on macro, start on the cheapest extension tube like this:

if you are just playing around, if this is the right one for your camera. Then if you want more reach and really really want to go macro, there is the 105mm for more reach to attach to your extension tube. I have lots of friends who does macro and I keep making funny remarks about them but they are really deep into it. I am not. I only went as far as extension tubes. I try not to succumb to the GAS Syndrome. :silly:

Other opinions might vary...this is just mine.
