What is distance Better beamer flash extender able to reach?

I haven't bought yet, and want to know just how far this will work?  Any noticeable difference at 50 or 75 feet?

Don't. Put your money into a flash unit and a wireless remote to control it.

Besides, a decent flash (an SB-900, for example) will easily reach 70 ft.

The Better beamer will give two to three stops. Used with at least a 300mm lens, will focus light on subject. There are places a wireless speedlight will be of no use. I have one for my SB900 and its works OK with wildlife photography, I just don't use speedlights too often. You will certainly see a difference at 75 feet....;)

Why so serious?

Majority of people using them, use them for wildlife photography. Your suggestion about getting a wireless remote really doesn't apply to most instances where people use flash extenders. You see flash extenders used a lot in bird photography. I don't recall seeing anyone use one doing portraits. The final answer depends on what you need it for. Wildlife and birds, definitely. Everything else, I would go with Gary's info.

I'll need to check with my neighbor who's big into bird photography.  I'm sure he uses something like this.
