Just saw this film this evening, and loved it. Whether you think it looks interesting or not, it's a master class in lighting. Every scene was beautifully lit.

A food film produced by Stephen Spielberg sounds odd, Helen Mirren did every scene in French and English, hoping they would use the French version, but they chose the English version apparently.

She was not the only French character in the film that mostly spoke English. That's a nit, and irrelevant to the story and the quality of the production. Anyone that bitches about that is just being asinine / myopic / self-important.

IMHO, of course.

It's all to do with financials really and I guess common sense, a lot less people would see it if it was subtitled, although I don't mind subtitled films, Helen Mirren sounded disappointed in the interview, she is fluent in French, and you can't blame an actress wanting to show off their skills, it's a film I will definately go see.
it wasn't said in a bitchy way Gary as I am sure you realise, just thought it was interesting that's all.

Oh, sorry about that. No, I went and read some reviews on IMDB that were just, well, stupid, and was thinking about those. Not your statement in particular, so apologies for any aspersions cast.

Yeah, I have no problems with subtitles (having reached a certain age where CC on the telly is more a necessity now). I just don't understand some people and their interaction with films.

No offence taken Gary, idiot critics who nitpick annoy me too.
