How are you telling your portrait subjects not to give the DUCK face?

Well, no, that would not be very politic. It's okay to think it, but not say it.

Ah but this is why I do not do this for a living. Being politically correct is not something I have ever been accused of. Also because most of the time I am blunt in many things, I am also not considered as polite by some. If being PC, or polite means not being honest, then others will have to deal with it, and move on.

A quick search on DuckDuckGo:

pol•i•tic (pŏlˈĭ-tĭk)►

  • adj. Using or marked by prudence, expedience, and shrewdness; artful.
  • adj. Using, displaying, or proceeding from policy; judicious: a politic decision.
  • adj. Crafty; cunning.

So, yeah, this. Mostly #1.

Allow me to pontificate a bit here, if I may.

I totally get "this is why I do not do this for a living." For me, I've come to realize over the years that I want to be encouraging (mostly) but I have no natural ability for that. i certainly never learned it growing up. One of the things I love about photographing people is the marriage of the craft with (at least the idea of engaging in) interpersonal dynamics. Those of us who are introverts yet like people (again, mostly) enjoy honing their abilities. I think. IMO. At least, for me. So I would see this as a challenge to get the very best out of someone that seemed to have no clue about.. well, anything. Least of all duck lips.

The flip side, yeah, I can be as non-PC as I need to be. Mostly while I'm driving.

This is also why I am not into politics themselves. That definition is one of the major reasons. You are supposed to be using veiled language, and not direct in any way. That has never worked for me, and it never will. I am political though, in that I participate in attempting to change the system. I can only imagine how many times I am on some list.
