Pricing and other questions.

Hi !
I was just wondering how some of you "non-newbees" started out when you first started charging for your work?
Here's the stats:
I live in a small town of less than 2,000 people, I do not own a studio as of yet, the woman in town that does photography charges $50 a session plus print cost, their other photographers within an one hour radius that charge $50 and super raise their prices on the picture packages(individual prints ie... $28 for one 8X10) . I want to give people the choice to buy the prints they want without having to buy packages and get stuff they don't want. I am a single mother, I am not in this to be doing it for free anymore (I have been doing this for YEARS).
My other concern is with my location, I've been thinking about moving and if that would help my pursuit of this career field.
I really want to make this my life's work, I just need some help getting there.

ANY ADVISE would be very much appreciated.
Thanks so much :-)

If you are ready to get started right now, then price your self competitively based on your experience and level of work.  Once you move, do your research on your new place of residence, the market and what other photographers are charging and adjust from there.

Good luck!

This should be good. I've asked that question several times before, never got a straight answer!
