Need rain protection that will cover both DLSR and telephoto lens

9 years 5 months ago #410162 by The Gardener
The rain sleeves that I have cover my camera body and lens, but only up to 24-70mm.  If I'm using a 70-200mm, the tip of the lens is exposed, which of course defeats the purpose of having the rain sleeve to begin with.

Can you recommend one that will cover comfortably body + telephoto lens?  Thanks!

Sixteen gallon clear trash bags, some scissors rubber bands and maybe a little gaffer's tape and for pennies,  fashion your own. Plus, they will cover most of your tripod, flash, wired remote, etc as well....;)

Why so serious?

Yeah, Op/Tech will do it.  If the standard sleeve won't do it for you (It'll handle a lens up to 7" diameter and 18" long), there's the "mega" version (8" dia x 25")

:agree:  if you are going to spend $$ op/tech is the way to go.

I've had a couple Op/tech rain sleeves in my bag for a number of years.  These are in my opinion, must have cheap insurance against rain.

Umbrella (on a tripod)
Umbrella on an assistant (if you move around a lot). ;)
Best assistant is your partner.
That way you find out HOW MUCH they love you. ;)

My wife loves me fine, she carries my tripod and lunch. However, after thirty five plus years I've learned she will NOT stand in the rain holding an umbrella for my camera. Fair weather mate?....

Think Tank Photo Hydrophobia, it's a bit pricey if you ask me. It was given to me as a gift.

I'll stick to the cheapo ones, some of the ones listed are way more than I would spend for plastic bag.  Besides, I don't shoot in the rain enough to justify spending that much
