Reliable hard drive recovery service

9 years 5 months ago #416305 by Jacko
Last summer I had a hard drive crash on my wife's computer.  Her computer had a ton of older family photos on it.  I'd like to swing around and see if there is any way of retrieving these photos.  Who have you used or know from experience are reliable hard drive recovery experts?   These photos are un-replaceable, and will be important to retrieve.

Thank you

Don't you have any data recovery companies in your area? Also when you say crash what do you mean by that? In other words did it do the clicking, or did the platters lockup, or did it just quit doing anything? Also since it has been sitting for so long have you tried to access it by putting it in another computer as a slave drive?
I ask because I had one where the stylus was clicking and would not read data, that after it sat around for almost a year, I go it to read just long enough to get some data off of it. Granted I may have just got lucky on that one, but hey I will take luck if I can get it.

If you hire any companies who specifically specialize in data recovery.  You better get ready to open up your wallet wide.  Have you tried any of the free services?  Here are 18 to pick from  pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/f...ecovery-programs.htm
