Are there any other filters like this 10 stop filter from Lee that are worth looking at? Ideally less in cost please.

There are others that do the same thing, (stop ten stops of light,+/-) but having owned a few from screw in to square types and variables, the Big Stopper is simply the best, and easiest to use. So you ask "comparable?", I say....nope......B)

Okay, I had to ask.  Thank you.

Well while I'm asking, why is never in stock?

Because everyone wants one? I was on the B&H waiting list for almost a year before I got mine.  These guys have it at times....

I spoke to a Lee filter rep last year about this.  Their manufacturing plant hand dips all these filters and they can't increase output.  To me this sounds like their answer to how can we keep people complaining about wanting bad and not in stock. Kind of like what Apple does when it releases limited number of inventory after new release.  People rush and then it becomes a situation of "I got one".

Well they are in high demand for these filters, just need to take a number and wait.

There's a waiting list, but oh so worth it. Good filter to have in the bag.

Again, thank you.  Do you guys see anything wrong with buying a used filter off ebay?

You will get two responses to this question:

A) Stay away from eBay! It's full of scam artists and swindlers.

2) No, but you need to buy from some with a reasonably long selling history and effectively no complaints. And there is risk involved in that the filter may not be in pristine condition (which may obviate its usefulness).

I have plenty of positive experiences with eBay, but you must use your brain and think and be careful.

And at this moment, there are no used Lee Big Stopper listings at all.  Good luck.

Well, this is a bit unorthodox, however welders glass will work similar.  Just a little bit of color tones, however good for budget.

Is welders glass a solid 10 stops exactly?

Ten to twelve stops it is said. Correct about the color cast, but ALL ND filters have a cast, some stronger than others, and ALL easily fixable in post, and a one click fix in ACR.....;)
