From what i've seen in past threads/articles, it is often best to have new models who are trying to build their portfolio too. That way both parties win.

Ask pretty faces you see on the street. Ask the friends, family.their kids who the pretty girls are at school, still undiscovered by agencies. You can even introduce them to agencies with your images. If your images are good enough, you can offer your services for "tests", which is a shoot only for your and the model and make-up artist's portfolios. Student make-up artists (or finished ones who needs to upgrade their portfolio) will also work for free. Your biggest problem might be clothes. Maybe tudent clothe designers?

Oh, golly, no.

Get a few friends to work for you to get started, then join Model Mayhem. You'll need 4 different photographs to start, not all of the same person or in the same location. Then you can offer TFP shoots for locals that are looking for TFP work to build up their portfolio, too.

:agree:
Craigs people tend to be really flaky, and waste your time.
Or you can do as I said in another thread about this subject. Come up from behind with a rag, and chloroform, or a taser. :P

Or the more subtle approach.

All models love the candy.

Hassner's ideas are good.

Is there a pool of aspiring models in your area?  They will work for images since they're trying to build a portfolio too.  Any camera clubs in your area?  My club conducts a "Model Studio Night" every week with two lighting set-ups in place.  Models come in, bring their own wardrobe items, and work for prints.  Everybody wins!

OMG your answers are soooo funny!!!  That van looks scary!  Really helpful input.

Hassner - how do you approach someone to ask them and will you hand them a business card when asking so that you look 'legit' vs possible perve with a camera in their eyes?

Well Queen since you are a female, you have an advantage over we males on here, and that is, that from you most women will not take it as creepy. If I was to randomly come up to a female and ask, I would either hear a scream, they get on the cell, and call the cops, or they run. That is just how it is anymore in our ever open, and secure society. The most I can see happening with you is that you get some catty response back.
