Printing directly to glass

Have not tried on glass but have had prints done on metal and slate. The slates sold very well at the gallery.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

There's Liquid Light that can be used to print film images on various surfaces besides paper. This seems like it would involve using ink that adheres to glass and a (commercial grade?) printer that can accommodate sheets of glass instead of paper. I think it's already been possible for photos to be printed on various surfaces, it just hasn't been commonly in use for in-home display.

Very interesting idea.  I'm curious how these are shipped with out getting 80% of them back broken.

From a visual stand point, how would this compare to metal prints?

metal prints emphasize oranges quite a bit, and act as glossy-on-steroids for sharpness.  Glass does not.

I've noticed that about the oranges.  Why is that?

I had no idea about the orange tones in metal prints either.  I have a metal print too.  When I get home, I'll need to check that out.

Well isn't that different.  So would this style of printing be best for portraits?

Some of these get pretty large too.  I'm sure they have the shipping figured out, other wise they would have been out of business long ago.

I don't really know, but if I were to hazard a guess, it would be that there is some sort of relationship between the atomic structure/spacing of the metal atoms and the frequency of light in the orange range. But that's only a guess.

And Google isn't so friendly for an answer on that one either.

Interesting Idea.  I am not sure I would want to spend the money on something like this and have it break.

My thoughts too, but I was reading and it looks like they really have their shipping down to a science.
