Drone gets shot down by home owner

I'm not sure if I'm buying this.  What do you think?  http://www.insideedition.com/headlines/10234-watch-this-homeowner-shoot-down-a-drone-flying-over-his-property

To have someone conveniently recording video seems a little fishy.

Nikon 18-55mm VR, Nikon 70-200mm VRII f/2.8, Nikon 50mm f/1.8, Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye, Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, SB-700 & SB-800

Hard to tell. If he really got a message and suspected it was a neighbor doing this he probably should have reported it to the police and let them hear the message so they could follow up on it.

Now that I think about it, there was another case I read about where one almost crashed onto a busy highway and since it had GPS and was recording video they were able to track it right to the front door of the person operating it. I wonder if they can get info. from this one and trace it back to where it started? maybe not since it's damaged. (Or maybe they can or have but just aren't saying so yet because it's being investigated.)

Seriously? A camera man is following him around. Of course it's a set-up.

If it is true, both the drone flyer and shooter committed crimes. The drone flyer for invasion of privacy and the shooter for discharging a firearm near a dwelling (assuming he does not have an enormous estate). Of course he wouldn't call the police.

Inside Edition is the trash tabloid of TV.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Questionable at the very least but the guy said it was a buddy following him that he asked to record what was happening and 'everybody' is recording video and posting it all over the internet lol, I don't think it was a camera crew. I wondered how they got the video but suppose it was obtained from the drone after it crashed.

No, I wouldn't think it's legal to shoot down an unmanned aircraft or legal if a neighbor is harassing him if that's the case. And the local authorities will have been able to see this too and I suppose deal with it. Not much of this seems to have been a good idea. I never watch the show, if its tabloidish maybe that's why! lol

I was just about to say the same.  I find the guy rather irritating. This is highly set up, no one cares about what this guy does on his property.  All he wants is PR from "home owner shoots down drone".  Knowing how gullible most of society is, his Kickstarter campaign is most likely soaring.
