Set up for photographing crystals

8 years 9 months ago #448584 by KenMan
Good morning all.  I came across a few crystals that I would like to photograph and having a tough time getting them to look all shiny with all the angles.  When I'm photographing them, they look flat and just don't have the same sparkle.

I have two flashes, how would you set something like this up?

Have you tried using a light tent?

I would tink a light tent would diffuse the light too muck. I would use multiple, off camera, flash units...

Get yourself a snoot for your flash and aim it at different directions till you get the right look in your photos.

If this

is the sort of thing you want, try using fixed lights, LED's, for instance, instead of flash. You can more easily adjust visually, and modify the light sources (baffles, snoots) as needed.
