Photographer hacks that you have made?

Any DIY'ers here?  Let's hear about something you have made from scratch that would have other wise cost you some bucks.  Meaning you saved money!

This past weekend I ended up in Lowes and picked up a piece of white plexiglass and managed to heat up the center of it with a blow torch just warm enough to make it bend with out breaking.  I built a frame from copper 3/4" pipes and and screwed it to the bottom and side of the plexiglass and now I have a product shooting table!  I'm waiting for a new shop light to come in from Amazon for my light source under it.

This turned out to be a fun project.  Your turn.  Post up what you have made.  OR take my instructions and build one for yourself!

I can't think of any hacks but I'd love to see a picture of your table.

I once made a 'ring light' for a photographer friend who moaned about ring flash prices.
I took a piece of wood, about 12 inch (30cm) square, made a hole in the middle for the lens, covered it with tin foil and screwed some bathroom florescent lights in a circle around it. It was slightly heavy, light not so strong, and not as mobile as a ring flash, as it was easier to fit it to a stand.
