What's the worst that could happen?

If you get caught in an abandoned building taking photos.  Would you get in any serious trouble or just asked to leave?

No reason just asking.

You can definitely get in trouble. In fact, depending on the situation, the site, the owners, etc., you could be arrested and charged with trespassing at the very least.

The worst "could" be getting caught by druggie squatters.....

Why so serious?

That depends on who finds you trespassing....and how they feel that day.

You know what, Scott has given the near perfect answer.  You can get in trouble, or a warning.  It depends on who catches you.

Get a zoom lens when in question.  That will keep you out of trouble.

Play it safe and when in question, don't enter.

Well is it clearly marked? If it is then jail time is possible. If it is government property, and marked then jail time is assured. And if it is an old commercial property most likely jail. Depends on a lot of things really. Like what state you are in for one as to how it ends.
