Have any of you attended this school?  My sister is thinking about attending, however not sure about their course.

Any tips you can give, that would be appreciated.  Thank you!

I haven't taken classes at NYIP, but I've heard really good things and really bad things about them from different people. Kind of the usual for for-profit schools. If your sister needs structured learning, then it might be the way to go. But they don't actually offer degrees, just certifications. I can tell you that having a degree or a certification as a photographer has meant little to nothing for me. Just FYI.

Exactly - that's what I don't like, that they were supposedly providing 'degrees' but they were only accredited for distance learning (home study). Which is similar to taking an adult ed. class for personal enrichment or a course at a vocational/technical school. But they weren't authorized to issue actual bachelors or masters degrees like a university does. (A real university, not a for profit school that calls itself a university.)

Looks like they've changed it, now I only see one certification and that's in wedding photography but I don't see a mention any longer about degrees.

The last I looked at it being an experienced photographer I wasn't that impressed by their courses. I don't know how good they'd be for the cost. I thought they used to have a good reputation years ago, then not so much recently; however it looks like there have been changes so maybe the coursework would be OK now.

Maybe it would be worth looking into what's in your area, any place that offers adult learning classes and see what they offer in photography.
