Contract labor vs Employee vs Outsourcing?

7 years 7 months ago #495699 by Cathy Kadolph
Morning.

I'm looking to bring someone on board for both social media and to deal with the mundane background things that are taking place like emails  and follow up.  Any of you try outsourcing these things to someone vs actual hire through staffing service?

Which route did you take and did it work out?

Thanks for the input on this.

Contract labor or outsourcing will reduce all the 'legalities' you need to deal with.

I would still check with your CPA to be sure.

There are pros and cons to each, but as an independent contractor myself, I think that you might want to look in that direction. For a small business, the short term employment and flexibility that comes with a contract can be advantageous. In your case, you can draft a temporary contract to see if having a virtual assistant works out for you - then switch over to a full time employee or outsourced help if you want something long term.
