Yup, we know that... but the whiner is simply making excuses to himself for not getting out. Photography is not what he wants to do obviously....

Why so serious?

Sounds like there may be other things going on in his life which he needs to deal with. Hope he can work it out.

no point in surrounding yourself with people with that kind of attitude...the most you can do is continue with your own business and hope that they learn to see the light!!

Maybe you could share some work with him that you find inspiring, or suggest a location he could visit for some choice shots.

Have to agree with Bojojo here; sometimes, just seeing a single incredible image is enough to get my mind going when I'm stuck in a rut.

I took a photography class in college, and we were given an assignment where we had to take 24 different photographs of a single park bench. Each of us brought in our contact sheets, and there was not one set of identical images in the bunch. That day I learned that there's about a million different ways to see the same thing - hope that your acquaintance can learn that lesson someday, too!

Look down near your feet.  Is what I would say!  There is always something to photograph on the ground.

I would tell them to quit trying to find something, and just observe life for a while. Always works for me. Because something always comes along when you are not looking for it.
