Shooting a camera 8 feet above my head

7 years 7 months ago #497912 by Miss Polly
I need a pole or something that will allow me to shoot my camera over my head about 8 feet.  It needs to be mobile, so a ladder won't work.  Are there any poles or something that would bring my camera that high and allow me to trigger it?

I've done this with my Olympus. I put the camera on my monopod and hold it up in the air bracing the bottom on my hip. You could adapt a painters pole to do this and get more height or an expensive surveyor's telescoping rod. The advantage with the Olympus is you cam connect remotely by wifi to a remote device like a smartphone. I checked a neighbor's gutter who was complaining that she didn't think her gutters had been cleaned. Here is the image made with the 9mm body cap lens.

Holding a DSL with any sort of lens out that far is going to feel REALLY heavy.  Can you use a smaller camera?

Mount a ball head to a PVC pipe and use that.  Fire it with remote trigger. OR camera to phone app that allows you to focus your camera from your phone.

Alpine Labs has this with their pulse.   alpinelaboratories.com/products/pulse-pre-order
