Hi Expert,

2.Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC Lens for Nikon
3. AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

Nikon 18-200. It's a better lens than most people think.

I agree with the 18-200, but the series II I believe fixed the lens creep common in the original. I had one once and had no issues with the performance....

Why so serious?

I don't know what happened to my reply, but here goes again. "Best is a very subjective term. Remember the old adage "one person's trash is another's treasure". If there was a "best" lenses, everyone would own it and no other lenses. That said,I'd go with a  Nikkor 18-200 as well for a general all purpose lens. Bear in mind that zoom lenses are engineered with compromises. The wide the focal length spread, the more compromises they have.

Because there's apparently an echo in here, you will find the Nikon 18-200 repeatedly suggested as a good, all-purpose walk-around lens. I used one on a trip and still like the resulting images 5 years later (D5100 body). Not only that, but they can be had used for a song.

Another echo from me.  Go with the 18-200mm.  It might not be the quickest lens, for the $$ and focal range, it's a must have.

5D mark II gripped | Canon 100L | Canon 85 1.8 | Sigma 50 1.4 | Tamron 28-75 2.8 | 580ex II | 430ex II x 2 |

You got good advice, so nothing further to add from me.  That 18-200mm is going to be a great investment.
